On April 2, 2011, LCD Soundsystem played their farewell gig at Madison Square Garden in New York City with Liquid Liquid as supporting act. On April 2, 2010, the band performed "Cavern" with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and announced they were to play more shows in Britain, at the Offset Festival and ATP Release The Bats in London. Liquid Liquid performed in 2009 at the Villette Sonique Festival in Paris, as well as in Lincoln Center, where they followed the 200 Guitar Orchestra. In October 2008 the band returned to the UK after a prolonged hiatus, playing at London's Barbican Theatre alongside the Glasgow-based DJ duo Optimo, who named themselves after the eponymous Liquid Liquid song and EP. After the collapse of both these labels, Domino Records released the music from all three original 12"s plus extra tracks and early live recordings as Slip In And Out Of Phenomenon in 2008. The first three EPs, plus live material, were reissued in 1997 by Grand Royal (US) and Mo' Wax (UK). The song was also included on the Disco Not Disco compilation album. Before they could collect, however, Sugarhill went into receivership. A music video for "Cavern" was produced by Michael Sporn.Īfter "Cavern" was sampled for Grandmaster + Melle Mel's old school rap classic, " White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)," 99 Records took Sugarhill to court over its unauthorized use, and after an expensive court battle, won compensation. Though the pressings were small, the music has had a lasting and far reaching impact. "Cavern" originally appeared on the EP, Optimo, recorded by Don Hunerberg. The group's original records were pressed in very limited quantities on 99 Records, and can now fetch high prices. Liquid Liquid emerged from downtown New York's no wave scene. In 2008, the band reformed and have played in multiple countries. They are best known for their track "Cavern," which was covered-without proper permission or attribution-by the Sugar Hill Records house band as the backing track for Melle Mel's old school rap classic " White Lines (Don't Don’t Do It)." The group released a series of extended plays, including the acclaimed 1983 12" EP Optimo. Liquid Liquid is an American no wave and dance-punk group, originally active from 1980 to 1983.

While RAR is a free utility for handling compressed files under Windows operating systems, sadly, it is not pre-installed on Linux computers. UnRAR is a command-line utility for extracting RAR files. Not much is known about the nature of the attacks, but the disclosure is evidence of a growing trend wherein threat actors are quick to scan for vulnerable systems after flaws are publicly disclosed and take the opportunity to launch malware and ransomware campaigns. How to install and setup Dropbox on Linux (Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, Manjaro) Zimbra addressed the issue on June 14 in 9.0.0 patch 25 and 8.5.15 patch 32 by replacing UnRAR with 7z. The security hole was patched by WinRAR developer Rarlab on May 6. In a follow-up analysis published last month, Rapid7 said a vulnerable Zimbra host can be exploited by an adversary by sending an email containing a rogue RAR file and without requiring any user interaction, since the service automatically extracts archives attached to incoming emails to inspect them for spam and malware. "RARLAB UnRAR on Linux and UNIX contains a directory traversal vulnerability, allowing an attacker to write to files during an extract (unpack) operation," the agency said in an advisory.Īlthough the flaw affects any Linux application that uses UnRAR to extract an archive file, a successful exploitation of the flaw can have a significant impact against Zimbra, granting an attacker complete access to the email server. With the 5450, SimHD is only capable of upscaling DVDs to a 720p resolution with the 5570 it can upscale to 1080p. Here, the extra stream processors can be of use, if you're running software that uses the graphics card (GPGPU) to upscale DVD, such as Arcsoft's SimHD plug-in for TotalMedia Theatre 3. This card means that you can have a PC that takes low-profile cards and enjoy some light gaming.Įven so, the main use of this card is likely to be for home theatre use. The card struggled with our more demanding Crysis test at 1,680x1,050, managing 21.5fps however, dropping the resolution to 1,440x900 improved frame rates to a playable 27.2fps. Its frame rate of 29.7fps in Call of Duty 4 provides smooth enough motion for gaming, while dropping the resolution down to 1,440x900 bumped the frame rate up to 37.1fps. So, while the 5450 struggled through our games tests, the 5570 did much better. These improvements strike a few advantages, most noticeably in games. In addition, the 5570 has twice the RAM, with 1GB of GDDR3. The 5470 has just 80, while the 5570 has 400 of them. The main difference between the two cards is the amount of stream processors each has. Fortunately, the fan's not overly noisy and, unless you have particularly quiet CPU and system fans, you're unlikely to hear the 5570 above the general noise of your case. You can tell this immediately, as the 5570 requires a fan to keep it cool, while the 5450 is passively cooled. While the HD 5450 is basically a very slow graphics card, designed for decoding video and transmitting HD audio, the 5570 is a considerably more powerful beast. However, this is a significantly different card under the surface. With the Radeon HD 5450 low-profile graphics card only just out, it's hard to get excited by the low-profile HD 5570, particularly as it costs almost twice as much. NetBeans allows lazily loading support for different languages/frameworks/tools JetBrains have separate IDEs for separate languages (IntelliJ IDEA for Java, Rider for. That simply leads me to believe that each IDE implements things differently, for example: When working on the same project of a known size and using similar IDE functionality, different IDEs still had noticeably different performance characteristics (i implore you to try the same, especially with the same Xms and Xmx values set). This would matter if one of them had the limit that's much smaller than the others, which would lead to aggressive GC, which wasn't the case. Personally, i haven't bumped the limit up higher, because i still need the memory for the actual Java processes of the services that i launch, since under normal circumstances i need at least 16 GB of RAM for all of the services to even run properly (but that may as well be a project related issue, since scheduled processes and a number of other optional things run locally, nor are all of them configured with Xmx and other parameters), though that's less relevant to the actual IDE performance (since i have swap turned off and it doesn't have an impact). When the code is running, the memory usage can get closer to the 2 GB limit, when using debugger functionality, recompiling classes on the fly and so on. When i'm writing code, using autocomplete, reading documentation, running Maven actions, using the suggestions functionality (basically IntelliSense + some plugins), using refactoring functionality etc., then the memory usage can be bumped up to 1 GB. When the IDE is mostly idle (with 10-20 opened source files), it generally uses around 0.5 GB of RAM. I bumped the limit up to 2 GB, which is where i've left it for IntelliJ IDEA. Of course, this would become more of an issue if you have something like 4 or 8 GB of RAM available.ĭisclaimer: this is anecdotal data and i may be wrong in regards to latest versions of the IDEs, since i only use JetBrains products nowadays. JetBrains - project was slow to open (+while indexing), but the IDE performs okay with 0.5 - 1 GB of RAM usage (though more needed when running/debugging)Ĭurrently i have a computer with 24 GB of RAM and an 8 core CPU, both of those seem sufficient but in my experience the IDE isn't the main thing consuming memory, it's actually all the services you might want to launch through it (if you need breakpoints across multiple ones). NetBeans - the cache folder filled up weirdly quickly (though that was NetBeans 8.2 not the new Apache NetBeans), but the IDE worked fine with around 1.5 GB of RAM usage The course will be updated from time to time when new IDE releases introduce meaningful changes or features.įeel free to take a look at the free preview videos before enrolling. This is different from my experience, when working on Java projects with a few thousand source files and about 1 million SLoC.Įclipse - had some problems with the autocomplete being slow to open, IDE was overall unresponsive and used around 2 GB of RAM during your coffee breaks) and so that you can skip the parts that you already know and re-watch what you forgot. This enabled other artists to begin inserting the personal, the mysterious, and the emotional into their paintings, which allowed truly bizarre and eccentric Surrealist works to be produced. Despite his paintings appearing to be quite absurd at times, Dalí opened up an entirely new avenue of possibilities for Surrealists. This method of accessing seemingly random and illogical knowledge grew in popularity, to the point where other Surrealists began to experiment with Dalí’s approach to artmaking.ĭisplaying a deep fascination with the work conducted by Sigmund Freud, Dalí went on to create a type of visual language that was capable of rendering his dreams and hallucinations in all their glory. His ability to essentially tap into his own unconscious mind in order to control and stimulate the type of delusions he was experiencing, whilst still maintaining a handle on his own sanity, proved to be very impressive. Portrait of Salvador Dalí, taken in Hôtel Meurice, Paris, 1972 Allan warren, CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commonsĭalí’s approach to painting delighted the other members of the Surrealist group, in particular its co-founder, Andre Breton. This method allowed Dalí to organize the confusion and delusions he was experiencing whilst in this semi-conscious state, which allowed him to completely reject the world of reality in his Surrealist artworks. This led to him painting in a sort of self-imposed hallucinatory state, which he later labeled as his “paranoiac-critical method”, which he used for the majority of his paintings. Joining the Surrealist group in 1929, Dalí displayed a deep fascination with the idea of subconscious art. His lengthy career also allowed him to experiment with a variety of mediums in addition to painting, which helped develop the type of artworks he was producing. As one of the most versatile artists to come from the 20thcentury, Dalí is remembered as the most famous Surrealist member due to his incredibly flamboyant personality and indisputable technical skills.
